@officialchadpeterman: There are a thousand ways to structure pay. Most of them are too complicated for anyone to understand, including the field pro trying to earn off it. If your team can't explain how they make money, that's already your first problem. Keep it simple. Whatever the model, hourly, bonus, commission, the rule is the same: if I do this, I earn this. Pay for behavior, not just results. The fastest way to end up with techs selling people things they don't need is to pay purely on outcome. Train people to give a level of service customers actually appreciate, then compensate them for that.

Bull. I am a plumber in Indianapolis and a lot of our calls are because they feel your technicians aren’t trying to solve the problem or do preventive maintenance, but sell things that are nowhere near the issue they having. Another part is the plumbing company I’ve worked for a decent amount of calls are from callback that would be from your company. What I mean is your company does work and it fails quickly, the customer has a hard time getting a hold of you guys to make that issue right and then they call us.

Anyplace that pays their guys piece rate or commission is a scam company. Change my mind. And before anyone thinks I’m jealous. I’m straight hourly and make over 100k without OT but always scoop up that double time as well
