@russellamber_: I get comments all the time on why I’m using electrical tape on my horses’ manes & tails. When caring for Vanners, Cobs, Friesians, and other horses bred & blessed with long hair - I groom their manes every 1-2 weeks. Braids are left in between grooming sessions to protect the hair and allow the horses to eat and move about freely. With their long hair down, they can step it out, chew on it, or get it caught. Electrical tape is a way to secure braids with a wider surface area, thus preventing breakage. Quality electrical tapes do not leave any residue. When I remove the tape, you can see that it doesn’t take any hair with it! I use black tape for black hair and white tape for all other kinds of hair. I’ve never had black tape bleed through as I only leave it in for a couple weeks at a time, but white tape would prevent this entirely. I then wrap the braid in vet wrap or a bag. What do you think about using electrical tape for securing braids & braid buns? #equestrian #haircare #gypsyvanner #horse #horselover

hi! i have a clyde cross and i want to grow his main out. currently, it’s pretty short and i would like to know how to keep it healthy and promote growth when it is not braiding length. also, how do you keep their feathers while maintaining peak leg and heel health as i would like to grow out his feathers but am worried about fungus and moisture. i’m from ky, so its very rainy, and i want to keep him healthy but keep his feathers

How do you secure the vetwrap? I tried this but the vetwrap would just fall off after a day. More electrical tape?
