All political donations should be capped at £50k per year and no cryptocurrency as it can’t be monitored. UK tax payers or registered companies only should be able to donate. That would make it more transparent.

By allowing a multi-millionaire living in London to donate £5 million to a party, but banning a multi-millionaire living in Dubai from doing the exact same thing, the government has left a massive loophole open. This selective ban makes the "protecting democracy" argument look like a convenient cover story to stifle competing parties. If the government’s genuine, pure motive was to stop wealthy individuals from "buying" British elections, the most logical step would be to cap all big donations, regardless of where the donor lives, but they didn't.

Currently you only hv to spend 16 days/year in the UK to not be made non resident, if you have property, family, work here etc. Would be pretty easy to get round if you're rich.
