So I'm old. Back in the early 70's no one had to wear shoes pretty much anywhere. I'm a barefoot gal, so I go to walmart with my then 4 and 6 year old kids. I've been shopping for quite a bit of time, have all my groceries and I'm heading to the check out. A Walmar employee comes up to me and tells me I need shoes because their policy had changed. I tell her ok, next time I'll wear shoes. She told me I had to go get them and come back. I told her I would have to drive quite a distance home & them come back. She said ok do that. I politely pushed the basket to her and told her,"Since I was on my way and you won't let me finish, I guess you guys can put the groceries away, as I wouldn't be back." As you said, common sense. If I had just started it would have been different, but I had been in the store for close to an hour.
