@doug_blevins_insurance: Once you reach the age where you can take money out of your 401(k) without the early withdrawal penalty, a lot of people assume that means the money is tax-free. That’s one of the most expensive misunderstandings you can make. If you have a traditional 401(k), your withdrawals are generally still subject to ordinary income taxes. The penalty may be gone, but the taxes aren’t. That’s why retirement planning isn’t just about how much you’ve saved—it’s also about where your money is saved and how you’ll withdraw it. Before you start pulling money out of your retirement accounts, sit down with someone who can help you build a tax-efficient income strategy. It could save you thousands over the course of your retirement. If you have questions about retirement planning, we’d be happy to help to experience our better way of doing insurance call 770-599-5145 or visit www.dougblevinsagency.com ##Insurance##DougBlevinsAgency##retirement##401k

There’s no way to know that taxes will be higher. Taxes have been steadily declining over the past 30 years

OK, I have actually taken money $50,000 out of my retirement right up front. It was 10,000 and then when I went to do my taxes for that year it cost me another 10,000 show. I listen to your video but at the same time I’m not really sure what you’re talking about. We get tax on everything gas groceries home land road tax just it just continues. Could you please make it a little more clearly I don’t know a whole lot about that stuff and I’m pretty sure that’s why I get screwed.

It also brings down your taxable income so you don’t pay as much in your paycheck. For everyday Americans if they get that money they going to spend it.

Dude, I save 24% income tax and 7.4% in payroll tax. I have enough Roth and SS to live comfortably tax free. I can convert 100k a year to roth at 12% tax rate for RMDs kick in.

You have to pay taxes on any earned income. So what’s the difference? And if you contribute post tax as a Roth contribution, you only have to pay tax on the gains.

What about someone who does not own many assets doesn’t the 401(k) bring down your taxable income?

I have about 15 years worth in a traditional TSP account and about five years worth in a Roth TSP account. Should I go ahead and roll over and pay the tax now from the traditional and put it in my Roth?
