another video said her grandfather's genetation called it magic knot. as a cadet, with the saint john's ambulance brigade, we were taught to use the reef knot, just hold both ends of the rope, one in each hand, say the magic phrase, 'left over right, and right over left', pull either end, and slide the loop out, to open/release this slip knot
