@teresondupuy: For the empath who saved the broken bird… You did what you were supposed to do for that person. You showed up. You loved. You gave. You tried. You reflected something back to them that they may have never experienced before. You showed them what love could feel like. You played your role. And maybe, on some level, you played it perfectly. But that does not mean you were meant to keep playing it forever. Because the savior will always get crucified when they keep trying to save someone who does not want to save themselves. That kind of love will drain you. It will break you. It will make you abandon yourself. It will convince you that if you just love harder, explain better, wait longer, sacrifice more, or stay softer, they will finally heal. But they have to want their own healing. You can guide someone. You can inspire someone. You can love someone. You can hold up the mirror. But you cannot climb inside their soul and do the work for them. You cannot save someone who is committed to staying wounded. You experienced this for a reason. Now learn from it. Let the broken bird become responsible for their own wings. And let this be the last time you sacrifice yourself trying to resurrect someone who refuses to rise.
