I think a lot of things you’re addressing are mostly happening in the US. For example most Europeans don’t have access to PGT testing, simply because it’s not allowed. Also the first thing my fertility clinics did was a complete hormone and vitamine check including tsh, ft3, ft4, vitamin d, iron levels etc. it’s literally the first step when it comes to IVF. A lot of clinics in Europe are skipping IUI completely, because it’s just a waste of money and time. For endometriosis patients there are also options like down regulations with special medication that helps “easing” your endometriosis/adenomyosis so that an embryo can implant. Most clinics also prefer natural cycles for FET, so no medication except the trigger shot and progesterone. While I do agree with a lot of things, many are simply not happening or not true for other parts of the world and IVF does work for a lot of us. In the end the most important thing is to be an informed patient and to do your own research, so that you know at all times what’s happening and how it might affect you. I was lucky enough to have my daughter through IVF, but I probably wouldn’t have had her, if I hadn’t been an active patient- doing my own research and working hand in hand with my doctors.

It’s also an abortion technically when the eggs are not used.

Some clinics DO have strict BMI restrictions. Mine did. CNY does not

IVF can be a powerful tool, but it is definitely not the only option and there are accessible and more affordable options that are less invasive, hormone-free and can be done at home. Intracervical insemination is one of them. Happy to share more if anyone wants info 💛

There are BMI requirements for many clinics in the US? Maybe not the clinic you went to but there are if you go to someone reputable.

How do you feel about a 38yo with severely low AMH due to cystectomy from stage 4 endometriosis?

What people don’t discuss too is there are many NAPRO drs that accept insurance too. Because it treats an actual issue.

We aren’t doing IVF for most of these reasons! Our biggest reason is the toll it can take on my health and body due to all of the medication and hormones. Plus the price of IVF is SO HIGH when it’s never a guarantee to produce a healthy baby. We will just be childfree 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is exactly why we didn’t do ICSI. I feel like that part of IVF isn’t discussed enough.

You’re not wrong. I went out of my way to see a endo specialist and he diagnosed me with adeno and superficial endo and now I’m taking the proper steps like getting a pelvic MRI and a hysteroscopy before I proceed with transfer bc I’m not going to transfer until I have proper treatment.

The first fertility clinic we went to didn’t address male factors other than a sperm analysis, which showed some issues for my husband but the clinic never looked into what or why. Just said if 3-5 rounds of IUI didn’t work then we had to go with IVF. We switched to a new clinic and they did a lot of bloodwork on my husband and referred him to a male reproductive specialist to help. We would’ve never known that was an option if we stayed at the old clinic and would’ve been going into IVF by now when we could possibly get pregnant naturally or with IUI by addressing our underlying health issues. My HSG at the first clinic also showed a potentially blocked tube but they never looked into it because “there’s at least one working tube”. It’s crazy how much of difference there is between clinics!
