yupp my best friend had two toxic exes and both times it got to the point where i told her to leave him or leave me out of it. ended up not talking to her for a few weeks (maybe 2 months) cuz she wouldnt leave him, but then I was by her side when she was ready to leave him and was there to support her.

i think it’s often that some people want their friends to do the emotional labour and guide them through that emotional process of acknowledgement that what they did was bad and to have that reconciliation so they can then go back to that person without confronting the issue- or want other people to laugh along or enable the abusive/man who just doesn’t love/respect them to get out of doing that hard work of raising their standards

In my experience the person I wanted to support became so abusive themselves that I had to fully step away from the situation. It’s hard to get the right help for people going through those struggles the person really needs to want to aswell. This is why it’s important to know ourselves and understand our emotions so we don’t end up stuck with an energy vampire
