@flyingspaghettiaudits: Banning hijabs is just as oppressive as requiring them. Give people freedom to wear whatever they want #hijab #islam #muslimwomen #burqa #freedomfromreligion
Where did you get that wearing a burka in Sudan, Egypt and Saudi was compulsory. I searched online for a bit but I couldn’t find anything for either countries enforcing burka?

Islam does not force women to wear the hijab or burqa—state laws do. Covering up is an Islamic standard of modesty, not a forced practice.

Please correct me if I’m wrong (cus I’m genuinely curious ) but I doubt those countries have COMPLETELY banned it and have only banned it in certain areas due to it hiding identity and potentially items (like lost of clothes are banned for that )

I’m Muslim. Hijab isn’t inherently oppressive or misogynistic. It’s about worship of God. What has made it oppressive is when women are forced to wear it and how Islam has been changed by misogynistic practices and men. (This has been mainly allowed because of the USA meddling in the Middle East)

Yeah because they wear it in scorching heat in Saudi Arabia because they "want to".

i cant speak for every country that ban it but in France at least its ban is because of the fact that you are not allowed to wear any face covering in public places (as for the burka)
and the hijab is only banned public buildings (like schools) because french law really takes secularism seriously

How are they inherently misogynistic and oppressive? It’s a command from God. Christianity (I know that you aren’t christian) also requires nuns to veil themselves from head to toe. It’s a woman’s choice (free will) and God’s command to wear a hijab* (not a burka). You don’t have to apply your liberal or such model to a country exerting sharia law. Surprisingly enough, a lot of women in overwhelmingly muslim countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan..) don’t wear neither hijabs neither burqa and dont face oppression.
