LOL this sounds like YOU are making it a trend! Like when someone finds out they like an artist and then the fans that know the artist for years make videos like this. “Some of us have been advocating for afghanisgan for years” okay? Its not a competition. Be thankfull people are making “content” of this and by that spreading the message! It is a good thing! But people really like to start fights about everything and the only thing that does is making people forget the real meaning behind everything and the main topic. Who cares if you know more about the history of Afghanistan? What does that have to do with spreading the message and making it be talked about

YALL ARE NOT UNDERSTANDING THE POINT. The issue isn’t “oh so now I’m bringing attention but apparently its wrong because I’m right.” No, its about the fact that primarily white women are putting their good and successful photos and putting them side by side with photos of oppressed Afghan women and those posts are becoming ‘trending’ and an excuse to post yourself and your accomplishments instead of giving Afghan women the proper awareness they deserve. If you even have a little comprehension then you’d instead post about just how bad the situation is getting, or compare situations with data instead of yourself. These comparison posts are coming off as performative and only grow more hate towards how performative it comes across as. Even a simple post of Afghan women alone with a caption would suffice better.

@N2000: Saying Afghanistan is the way it is because of the U.S. ignores a lot of history. Afghanistan was already in conflict long before 2001, including the Soviet invasion, years of civil war, and the Taliban’s rise in the 1990s. The U.S. made serious mistakes, especially during the withdrawal, but it didn’t create the Taliban or single-handedly cause Afghanistan’s current situation. The Taliban, corruption within the former Afghan government, and regional actors like Pakistan also played major roles. Reducing decades of complex history to “it’s America’s fault” is just as misleading as pretending the U.S. made no mistakes.

i've starter reading a little about the issues and history and it's disturbing to see white feminism brush over the most superficial aspects of it, i get they're trying, but inform yourself before you come off as disrespectful and insensitive. it's not a trend, it's not something to pity over and move on, it's a harsh and unjust reality, and you have to learn how to appropriately advocate and address it

can't we all agree that most of the posts that the video is criticising are made by girls who are young, some of which are pre-teens and teenaged (most the ones i've seen anyway), who, yes, probably don't have a full understanding but atleast they are using their force and recognising their privilege and spreading awareness. instead of putting them down why don't we try to educate people. i really don't understand the need to hate on well intentioned people!!
