@rufuswainwright: For me, my 2009 performance at the Hall was "the most impactful, intense, beautiful but also horrific" that I’ve had here. The show, A Not So Silent Night, saw a troupe of special guests alongside my sister Martha Wainwright and mother Kate McGarrigle, just before her passing six weeks later. "It took her all of her energy, all of her concentration and all of her life to come here and do that show," he explains that between her resting backstage, her short stints on stage gave her "so much energy and so much joy". "Everyone was there to bring homage and wish my mother a good journey," with the stacked line-up seeing more family join the trio, and even more musical friends. From my husband and aunt, to the likes of Boy George, French and Saunders, Guy Garvey and more, the Christmas celebration was a "very special night" as "the emotions ran high".
