I think in general, the response to "why don't we do [cool artistic thing] anymore" is usually capitalism and greed

I firmly believe that if they built modern engines and hybrid engines into vintage car bodies, there would be a huge market for it

Everyone wants the classics but the big cooperations and there for we get ugly boxy fords that don’t consist of the slim sharp-or rounded figure that these cars do- btw, my favorite is the 1966 Chevy impala 🥰

It’s cause there are people in this world that think the cyber truck is cool. And they are making the big boy decisions for us.

my car nerd and mechanic sister said it was capitalism bc companies wanted flavorless cars bc they are easier to resell. so basically modern cars are the millennial gray of cars

Actually false on the safety aspect. Cars used to have steel frames and now they’re plastic bits of trash. An average car from the 80s is more durable and likely to hold up in a crash than the average car now. Like by a lot. Why? Capitalism.

Companies used to employ designers whose whole job was to make cars beautiful. Those jobs got cut.

Basically they want to make the most money with the cheapest materials, but also with emission regulations they have to make them more fuel efficient, which means they need to be more aerodynamic. Rounded parts make air flow much smoother than square or flat parts.

okay so while were on this topic. what abt cool interiors????? Exterior has a couple excuses. but you're telling me velvet is that much more expensive than leather, seats that are tufted like a couch is more expensive than stitched? we cant think of any weird modern equivalent to built in cassette tape holders (thats not apple play screens bc thats so lame). everything's so boring v-v
