@borrowedshorttime: When I was first sectioned in the general hospital last year after my 3rd ICU admission on life support, i was told I was going to a therapeutic hospital especially for complex mh needs with a full therapy structured time table. Two minutes before leaving for that hospital, I was actually sent to a private acute ward 3 hours away. The staff there felt they couldnt keep me safe, that the ward was inappropriate. Me and my mum thought I was being transferred to the therapeutic hospital I originally had a bed in, half an hour from Bristol. Instead with 5 minutes warning I got transferred to another acute psychiatric ward back in Bristol, where for month's, me and mum asked bed managers etc to put me in the therapeutic hospital. Each time it was "there isn't enough funding". I completely gave up. my mum too. I got the idea of recovery out of my head and went into my usual mode of "fake it out of here, avoid PICU again" and honestly, carry on with my business that the general hospital so considerate intervened in. 5 bloody month's later and out of absolutely no where, no talk of another hospital from ward round...the day before! Fundings in place.
