Isn't it funny that Starmer announces this around the time Burnham says he wants to spend money on social housing and re-nationalising utilities. Like they're preparing the eventual excuses why Burnham 'has' to u-turn on his promises.

The UK Defence Budget isn’t enough. I genuinely do not know why anyone would believe it to be so.

With people like Putin, Trump and Netanyahu in the world I think defence spending does have to rise, but energy prices needs to be addressed too.

Everyone asks for more military spending then gets it and then it’s not enough but also too much?

The heating allowance is a red herring. It only applies to pensioners with wealth not pensioners who are struggling.

As someone that has family in the military, wish that money was invested in the people serving and the resources they use for OUR country. Instead that money goes on funding a war.

This is very interesting. In Wigan there have been plans for decades for a new major link road between Wigan and Bolton that has had one little section built so far. Josh Simons pushed the government to fund and finish it and finally got approval. Burnham said he'd also push for it to be moved forward in the by-election. I imagine it will be one of the first plans scrapped for Starmer under this, so I wonder if Burnham will keep his promise

Defence also means more employment for young people more social skills and better education/life capabilities for the younger children yes money should’ve been diversified into more important matters but stop acting like this is just a waste of

I’ve had people tell me that spending this money on bombs (I’m not calling it “defense”) is better than spending it on local communities…. Country is fucked

Trump ordered us & other countries to increase their defence budget (so the US can profit by selling these weapons) and our government (doesn’t matter which party is in power) seemingly has to follow these orders.
