I respect Morocco’s progress, but calling them the standard-bearer for African football is too strong. If Morocco is supposed to be the guiding light for the continent, then we have to judge them against the best teams in Africa, not just their global reputation. Senegal beat them on the field in the AFCON final. Even though CAF later awarded Morocco the title by default, the match itself showed that Senegal can stand with them and beat them. Morocco is one of Africa’s top football nations, but they are not the only standard. Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, and others also belong in that conversation.

Morocco continued to play in the African Cup final after play had stopped over a controversial call. The game went to overtime then PKs. Morocco lost the match then filed an appeal to say Senegal should have forfeited the match. That's not what real men do. It was a weak move by the Moroccan team and their federation.

Maybe 2 or only morocco will be left after the first knockout round. Morocco will be out in quarter finals and thats how its always has been. Best continents are europe, south and North America.
