I completely understand why a tarot reader turning to Christianity upset so many people. There are valid conversations to have about deception, grifting, and the alt-right pipeline. This isn’t one of them. This is about what happened afterward. One thing I couldn’t fit into a two-minute video is that not every statement belongs in the same category. Some things are historical fact. Some belong to a specific tradition. Some are Unverified Personal Gnosis (UPG), meaning personal spiritual experiences or revelations that aren’t historically documented or independently verifiable. Some are simply personal beliefs or opinions. None of those categories are inherently wrong. The problem starts when we stop telling people which category we’re speaking from. That’s how a personal belief becomes “how witchcraft works.” That’s how something commonly used by witches suddenly becomes “inherently witchcraft.” That’s how a practice adopted by many pagans suddenly becomes “inherently pagan.” That’s how beginners, beginner witches, beginner practitioners, and people exploring tarot for the first time end up believing they’re already doing something wrong before they’ve even begun. If your practice works for you, that’s fantastic. Just be clear about whether you’re sharing history, tradition, UPG, or personal opinion.
