@thestomachdoc: Before you pour out that liquid on top of your Greek yogurt…don’t. Credit TT @makenziedivito That watery layer isn’t spoiled yogurt. It’s whey, a natural part of the yogurt-making process. Whey contains protein along with vitamins and minerals, making it one of the most nutritious parts of the yogurt. Pouring it down the sink means you’re throwing away nutrients that came with your yogurt. The easiest thing to do is simply stir it back in before eating. It makes the yogurt creamier and helps keep all of the nutrition together. The same idea applies to many other yogurts as well. That liquid naturally separates over time, especially if the yogurt has been sitting in the refrigerator. It’s completely normal. So the next time you open a container and see liquid on top, don’t dump it. Grab a spoon, stir it in, and enjoy all of the protein and nutrients your yogurt has to offer. #yogurtbowl

That's acid whey, it's the same stuff that is strained out when making Greek yogurt. It's almost purely carbs and has less than 1g of protein/100g...

can’t believe ppl pour that out and don’t just mix it in like you’d do with peanut butter or anything else that separates out naturally

I fear stirring things up to mix them when you see that ingredients may have separated is a common sense thing. You either have it or you dont fam.

I always thought it was water that separated from the fat so I always mixed it back in. Never knew it was protein.

I mean, I thought that was a given that people knew just to stir in the liquid just like sometimes with sour cream. I stir in the liquid.
