Aemond is very much like his mother in the regard of they have this chip on their shoulder and they try to justify all their actions under a “righteous cause” like to protect the family but really it’s to get even and to be better than everyone who hurt them. But then are shocked when it all backfires and adds to that chip which continues this silly cycle.

I’m not as well immersed in this but the way I’ve always looked at it is that Daemon loves his family - devoted, whereas Aemond seems jealous of everyone.

Daemon may be dangerous, but he rarely is reckless. He is calculated. Aemon is reckless. His arrogance is born of Vaghar's strength, not his own merit. IMO

I think if Daemon were Aemond’s age, he would have handled Harrenhal the exact same way. At this point in his life, Daemon doesn’t need to earn any respect or show his power. People know him. Aemond still feels like he has a lot to prove, and he is young and has unrestrained anger, and the biggest dragon in the seven kingdoms.
