@sander_jennings: Trans rights are human rights 🏳️‍⚧️ Today, in a devastating decision, the US Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that states can exclude trans athletes from female sports. The ruling centered on the cases of Lindsay Hecox, a college student in Idaho, and Becky Pepper-Jackson, a teenage athlete from West Virginia. The impact stretches far beyond these two states. Idaho and West Virginia’s bans are already mirrored in at least 27 other states. The attacks against transgender people in sports, bathrooms, the military, and their right to exist publicly are the worst scaremongering campaign of our time. Transgender youth continue to pay the price for politicians’ cowardice and their reluctance to lay out the actual facts. Lower courts, not stacked with right-leaning justices, had ruled in favor of these transgender athletes. The Supreme Court just reversed that. This sets a dangerous precedent.
