@super_solo_mon: We are coming off guanfacine. It hasn’t helped as it should and could be making him more agitated. #soloasd #autism #meds #behavior

Genesight testing!!! If you don’t know, look into it. It tests meds against your dna to see what breaks down correctly for each individual person. ❤️

So for us it has been beneficial but we had to mess with the dosages a bit to find what was right. Hes also on Prozac and attarax(as needed very small dose). We use clonodine but only in instances of intense aggression and hyperfixation. vynase and ability are the ones that made my son more aggressive. I think its so interesting how it really is a one size doesn't fit all thing.

Have you talked to your doctor about doing GeneSight testing? It’ll tell you what works best for his genetics. 💗

Guanfacine was a NIGHTMARE for my daughter. Same with clonodine. Complete opposite of calming for her

It’s interesting to hear how other children handle medications. My kid does well with guanfacine and adderall. It’s the clonidine that sucks in regards to sleep. We’re adding trazadone. My 5 yo has been up since 3:30am 😭 yesterday it was 1:30-6:30am. I am soooo exhausted.

We had the same issue with agitation on it plus insomnia. Jax was moved to respirodone and he is doing amazing! No anger and he is talking more! I hope this path is positive for Solo!

We've tried them all, nothing has helped. Hydroxyzine has helped with sleep and temporarily helps stop anger issues but not much. We just tried strattera bc it made her so much more aggressive

My son is on Guanfacine too- has been for 8 years. I am also peeling back meds. We are actually titrating him off Geodon. I just want to see if it is needed.

Have you tried naltrexone?! It’s for opiod and alcohol addiction but my son’s doctor prescribed it for calming. He absolutely hates the taste but it’s the only thing that calms him. Guanfacine and clonodine caused almost psychotic behaviors. But naltrexone is great (he also does focalin)

So this would explain so much. This is exactly what we're going through, has the psychiatrist mentioned this? Hell no. I'm so glad you posted this.
