CPSTI here! You missed a step on the base installation. Once you click the base into the lower anchors. You need to push the base into the vehicle seat back to snug up the installation. You do not want the gap between the anti-rebound bar and the vehicle seat back. The lower anchors retract back into the base when you push the base into the vehicle seat back and the base becomes tight. This is discussed on page 45 of the owners manual. If we are going to give car seat installation advice please make sure you are installing the seat per the owners manual. By not following the owners manual you are potentially putting your child & other people’s children at risk.

I think there might also be a step where you cross the seatbelt over the base to add more security.
