My OB was eating a tuna fish sandwich while I was being induced (before contractions started). I joked about it and he was so happy and said, "Who, in my field, can even eat tuna everyday?"Then laughed... I love him. His humor helped.

As for op response- are they the other parent? If so then yes. Regardless of what sound to me like a stupid decision they should still be there in support etc, if they are not then absolutely not. Supporting a friend or love one is important but you also need to support and protect yourself

Ok as part of the community I don’t want to rage bait but what does non binary have to do with prenatal care? If you’re pregnant you need to have scans, checks. Supplements for the care of the child your growing and for yourself. What if there is something wrong?

Being non binary is irrelevant to a midwife or obstetrician, you have a baby that needs to be born alive and the parent alive too. Absolutely do not take part in an unassisted birth, so much can go wrong

The reason the best friend is refusing medical support during this pregnancy is purely because they are non binary. They feel the pregnancy scan etc are for “women” so they don’t want to be associated with that. It’s selfish and wrong.
