Not only this but he addressees the destruction of a family relationship in a capitalist system. The family relationship becomes a money relationship. Which is clearly seen through the reaction of his family when he no longer has a job

I just dislike how people assume it was an insect, Kafka made the deliberate move to make it ambiguous, instead he used "Ungeziefer" which means "animal unfit for sacrifice" this keeps the animal ambiguous, but still maintains that Gregor was seen as lesser, and makes the dehumanisation worse somehow
