Let’s get a few things straight. All of these girls are purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgis. One or both of their parents are titled in conformation. The reason that 3 of them don’t look like the typical corgis you will find when googling “corgi” ? They have what is called a fluffy coat (long hair) rather than a standard coat (short hair). The one who has a standard coat in the video is all the way to the very left and is just a pup right now. Fluffy coat corgis are not considered “Breed Standard” so they cannot compete in dog shows for conformation, but they can compete in obedience, agility and other dog sporting events to earn titles. There are no health concerns related specifically to a dog having a longer or more fluffy coat rather than a short one. Fluffy coat corgis will require grooming more often than a standard coat corgi, but nothing too crazy in 2025 where pets are considered to be part of the family and treated like royalty anyways 😉. Therefore breeding for fluffy coat corgis rather than short coat corgis is more just a personal preference depending on the breeder you choose. The breeders who do compete in shows for conformation typically have a different opinion on fluffy coat corgis & we do understand & respect their opinion. For us, as long as you pick a breeder who will prioritize the temperament, health and (most important of all) the care of the dogs they are breeding and raising, that really is all that should matter. Not just every dog should be considered breeding quality. Pick a breeder who is picky about the quality of dog they want to produce. We do breed both fluffy & standard coat corgis here, but almost all of our dogs do come from championed and titled parents. Oh and lastly - a standard coat corgi can produce a fluffy coat corgi as long as they carry one or two copies of what we call the “fluffy” gene. The 3 fluffy coat females are all from standard coat parents. Both parents carried a copy of the fluffy coat gene which is how they were produced from parents titled in conformation 🤗.
