There are things we can forgive with time, and things we can eventually forget. But respect is not one of them. I can tolerate misunderstandings, overlook mistakes, and even give people another chance. But the moment respect is lost, everything changes. To me, respect is the foundation of every relationship. It should remain, even in moments of disagreement. People may have different opinions. They may grow apart. But nothing ever justifies belittling someone’s worth or dignity. In my opinion, most relationships don’t fall apart because love fades—they fall apart because respect disappears. Once that line is crossed, even the most beautiful memories become powerless to repair the damage caused by a single act of disrespect.
