@allie_voss: Many women have accepted the framing that strength means you have privilege, and they try to run from this by identifying with as many labels of marginalization as possible, collecting them like little victim tokens. Instead of recognizing the whole “privilege” framing is crazy to begin with, the more rich, white, elite etc. someone who buys into this mindset is, the more they’ll try to escape it with LGBT affiliations, diagnoses, or whatever else they can come up with…no matter the stretch

the biggest move i made toward maturity as a chronically ill person is recognizing i am not helpless. meaning both i can help myself and i am capable of helping or harming others and its my responsibility to manage that

I’ve been diagnosed with POTS since like 2010, and it has been so devastating to see what POTS has become, it’s almost like a trend, which is so crazy

Idk if this take is it, there are a lot of health issues that are only diagnosable by exclusion. I’ve been saying I had endometriosis for 12 years despite doctors saying unlikely. Ended up having stage 4

While I agree with your points I don’t think that being Enby and Bisexual should really be brought up. Because your presentation and dating history don’t have anything to do with your sexuality/gender. I think your point can be made without discrediting those niche communities

I keep saying, you don’t have to be a victim to be valued. Your life doesn’t have to be difficult in order for the things you do to be seen as important. I have lived a very privileged life, my life is easy, AND it’s still valuable, important, and worthy of appreciation.

HEAVY on the pots, I have pots and it was actually very easy for my doctor to diagnose me. It only took one apt with the cardiologist to get diagnosed.

It can also be a little shame bound like I had this privilege and did nothing with it, what is wrong with me type of thing.

I genuinely dont understand why its so hard to accept being privileged. i didnt grow up in privelage but I am absolutely aware of how privileged I am as an adult woman in America. why is that a bad thing? I have a great life now and im not scared to say it or ashamed of it. I recognize it and am grateful for it and dont get why its seen as bad to say it.

I’m autistic and I don’t see my autism as a disability. I don’t see myself as a victim or a press. I see myself as fortunate not privilege. I am blessed for everything I have. I’m happy and I’m satisfied.
