I have my one child for 30% of the nights of the year and pay £700 a month to their mum out of my taxed earnings (have done for 8 years), plus pay for all sports clubs and kit (football and cricket), buy clothes etc they need on top, pay for their season ticket to a Premier League Football club, private medical insurance amongst other things too. I live to give them the best life I can provide.

It should be split! Not down to the paying parent to pay for everything for the child.. if people are saying £500 for example then that should be £250 from each parent for that child’s essentials. I don’t think it’s right just because one parent may earn more suddenly a child costs more. I think it needs to be capped and reasonable same with parents that pay the minimum more needs to be done on both sides.

I pay £300 per month for 3 have them at least 3 nights per week pay there phone contracts holidays activities etc also help mum is needed x

Children don't cost much to maintain. meals etc. clothes don't need to be bought every month despite what some say. They cost more on the weekends when they're getting taken out doing activities.. imo

To raise a child per month is…. Clothing £120, food £220, pocket money £35, clubs £70, activities £40, school misc £10, birthday & Christmas £50, misc £50, total £595 childcare from £625-£1250 per month so £1220-£1845 per child per month, the responsibility on each parent should be £610-£923 per month.

I think what they state to pay is fair. The 25% ruling for wage change is a terrible idea. I earn more than some, less than others so it is certainly down to individual earnings. But if my salary goes up 24%, it doesn’t prompt change. Same if I lose 24% of my salary. Still no change. I have paid £620 a month to £390 a month. (Over 10 period)

it shouldnt be a set cost, it should be means tested, how much is each parents getting wage wise, whats their housing costs, whats their household bills etc then go from there rather than a blanket £x for a night

I reckon £45/wk per kid I am not a mum myself yet but is say £45 / week Stops people soeneding it I other things and not their kids like my mother did... But instead of this I think the gov should up child benefit xx

Depends on the child and the division of custody. I’m happily married but our first born is physically disabled, he requires; hydrotherapy once-twice per week (private), physio in the hospital weekly, fortnightly appointments, special shoes, particular dietary needs (almost double the cost of a standard child) - he also does recommended activities to help his mobility and heart conditions. Just on what’s mentioned here it costs (£84 x 2 weekly hydrotherapy sessions, £8 fuel/parking physio appointment weekly, £8 fortnightly hospital appointments, £130 shoes/fitting monthly, £50-60 on specific foods, £12 dance lesson, horse riding for mobility free as we have horses £40 for half an hour if we didn’t have horses) that’s £1258 per month on medically necessary care for one child, we have a second on the way. Personally it should be a case of breakdown all costs (if medically needed proof from DR provided), and the costs halved if custody is 50/50.

it costs about £800 a month per child (google it) so £400 should be the minimum amount and then adjusted up if youre a higher earner. down if paying parent has the kid more often. should be per child aswell. and no I dont think the payment should lower if paying larent has a another kid
