@mr.kish237: Canada is bilingual, but... 🇨🇦 Federal: All government services are in English + French. Reality: Quebec = French. Rest of Canada = Mostly English. Bottom line: English is enough in KW/Ontario. French opens doors. #BilingualCanada #NewToCanada #CanadaLife #KWRegion
I guess you haven’t been to New Brunswick, Ottawa or Northern Ontario

I want to french immersion and took french as a second major at simon phase university. not for any particular reason , but for fun and for culture. i kind of regretted it after. you can hardly hear French anywhere in Vancouver except when you turn on the radio. and when I did speak french with some people from africa , I felt like a fraud. later , I learned vietnamese in chinese , and I mingled in their communities for years and years. i felt more alive and the situation was more lively, speaking they're living languages. so for language learning, environment is everything. don't ever trust apps. they won't get you anywhere. Now I'm trying to learn Punjabi in Surrey, b.C. we'll see how that goes. i'd love to learn cree or halkomelem or another indigenous language, but again, gotta have the environment.

In New Brunswick they speak English and French in the same sentence, switching every few words. You have to hear it to believe it!
