@kkearah.kkraus: I hate making sourdough starters 😭😭😭 #sourdoughstarterfeeding #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughstarterfails #homemadesourdoughstarter #sourdoughtok
I followed Conley Kipp’s sourdough starter videos to get mine up and running. And I’ve had that starter for 2 years now and created a lot of loaves with it. Hope that helps

As someone who makes sourdough I got real sad when you said “at least a week” 😭 noooo. I don’t understand why people try and rush a starter. The shortest time I would say would be 4-6 weeks 😏

tons of things wrong!
1. use a jar, not a bowl. bowls spread out too much, it needs to be more consolidated as the bacteria works together
2. you can use AP flour… but use bread flour or whole wheat flour.
3. make sure your water is warm. not hot, just warm. like bath water warm
4. store it in a warm dark area or corner
5. make sure you discard. start doing it day 3 where you literally pour half out and replace it with new flour and warm water
for best results, repeat that process for 2 weeks. then for about another week start feeding it twice a day, morning and night. discard, then feed! same process. then after the week is up it’ll be ready to bake with. patience is key, don’t get too excited. it might look fully active but it isn’t and you’ll get dense bread 💗

hi :
girllll. r u discarding? u gotta think of starter like an actual person that has to eat. the flour is food the water is hydration. if u start getting the person to be bigger n bigger but still do the same amount of food, they r gonna be hungry/get hungry faster. so u gotta discard, always always always discard!

You aren’t feeding it by it size thats why it runnier!! You should have feed it 30g second time both water and flour.. 3rd time should 60g for both or you could have discarded some and left only 15g of starter each time

It doesn’t matter! Make it pancake mix consistency then go by SMELL. If it smells like lickkkaaaa you need to feed. If not let her chill. Also use filtered water idk if you mentioned that

Why am I the only one grossed out about the flies? Why would you want to keep going after finding fruit flies in there? I’m just gonna stop eating food from other peoples houses

hi, so i am a chef, it will be better if you got the right lid for it, also it doesn't have to be in a glass container any will do with a lid, so how i make my starter is i use strong flour 100g then 100g warm water, day 2 i feed her the same amount or add until she is the right consistency, day 3 I do the same thing, same as day 4 and 5 on day 6 if she has risen than I discard half of it then add until she is the right consistency, and then on day 7 i weigh 200 of starter, 400 of strong flour and 400 of warm water and discard the rest. Day 8 weigh 200 of starter, 400 of strong flour and 400 of warm water and the leftover bake it and just continued feeding it the same amount

The reason it’s runny is because your not discarding, also on day 3-5 your starter will be sluggish so it may not rise and it may separate meaning it will create a little hooch. DONT GIVE UP ON HER

A strong starter isn’t made in a week. Keep going. Discard some of that if you want to use less flour each day.

How about we stop keeping starter that has bugs in it? Use cheese cloth to keep them out.
