i left school in year 8 and tried to go back at least one day every year. it was horrible. but i still ended up getting to uni because i was able to do it at my own pace but the way people end up treating me after i mention that itโs disgusting. no one understands how horrible it was feeling like i was behind in life unless they had experienced it themselves

I left school at this year at fifteen too and itโs great to see representation, I think people canโt understand how much leaving school can help someone and save someone

I had the exact same experience as you at the same age. I didnโt attend Year 10 between after October half term and mocks in the June. When I returned, I was asked โWhy havenโt you been attending school anyway?โ and was labelled a school refuser by the attendance officer in front of a busy pastoral office.

at the end of the day you can always return to education, but you can never reverse the irreversible ๐ฉต๐ฉต๐ฉต i also dropped out for a few years and youโre right - people are ignorant!

Not to mention a lot of schools will try to get you to drop out if they notice you have issues. They told me they couldnโt help me

I think in general secondary school is absolutely terrible for the mental health of so many children itโs heartbreaking, I repressed a lot of my memories prior to sixth form because of bullying

I have so much respect for you and I hope you know how much you've helped other people. I've been following u since the weekly outing videos, at the same time I was in the process of a diagnosis myself. Whilst not the exact same to u, I took about 4 months out of school in yr 11 because of burnout, bullying and having no friends. And took several weeks off at the start of yr 13 and completely crashed a few months before alevels, didn't finish either projects in one of my courses and was not mentally there during my exam and now all my friends are off to uni and I'm just at home doing absolutely nothing. Tbh I think the only reason I've forgiven myself for it is because of your videos, seeing another girl a similar age who has similar struggles to me (whilst I wouldn't wish it on anyone) helps a lot. It's nice knowing you're not alone in these situations because it is so insanely isolating

My daughter is PDA. School is such a difficult environment for PDA kids. Weโre lucky with the support she gets. Youโre doing great.

i dropped out at 15 too! iโm not autistic but i have anxiety and for years i would get ready for school and leave the house and then walk back home because i couldnโt do it or i would just lie in bed crying unable to get up because of my anxiety. anyone who shames someone for dropping out of school should feel lucky they never had to go through mental health episodes like that at a young age !!!

Awaiting an autism diagnosis and I always had the same, if I thought about going to school I would have a breakdown which I had no control over. My mental health improved massively when I left school!
