STOP panicking…put the scale down (*gently*) and let’s chat… This literally happened to me recently. I did nothing different the day before - nothing out of the ordinary - and BOOM - scale was up 3lbs. For no reason whatsoever. But I didn't panic like I used to years ago and here's why... Weight fluctuations are NORMAL. Fluctuations are due to many different things - so just because the scale is up - it does NOT mean you’ve gained FAT overnight. Here are 10 reasons that the scale might be up: ⬆️ You’re sore from your workout ⬆️ You consumed more sodium ⬆️ You are taking medication ⬆️ Your cycle is approaching ⬆️ You drank more water ⬆️ You ate more carbs ⬆️ You had poor sleep ⬆️ You need to poop ⬆️ You’re stressed ⬆️ You traveled Fun Fact: to gain 1lb of fat, you would have to eat 3,500 MORE calories than your normal intake! To gain 3lbs of FAT overnight - I would have had to consume more than 10,000 calories (x Chick-Fil-A sandwiches). Seeing as that is very unlikely…it’s much MORE likely to be one of the above factors. Daily weight fluctuations are completely and totally normal...even on a weightloss journey. If you’ve been consistently working hard and find the scale frustrating...try this: Look at your AVERAGE bodyweight trends week over week. Weigh yourself multiple times throughout the week. This is a much more accurate picture of what your weight is truly doing versus one single day of weighing at one single point in time. Also remember: if you are losing fat and gaining lean muscle mass…the scale might not change! Use other metrics like inches, photos, how your clothes fit and how you FEEL to measure your progress too! If this is a good reminder for you, save it, share it and remember: the scale does not tell the entire story! Make sure you’re following @jillthornton814 for REAL LIFE nutrition tips, body transformation strategies, busy mom health hacks and a giggle from time to time ✨ Was this helpful?! Any questions?! #ScaleFluctuations #NotJustFat #HealthyWeight #FitnessJourney #HealthAndWellness
