What are the penalties for citizens who don’t sign up for insurance? How is uncovered care addressed? Do they have anything like EMTALA? Are there copays and deductibles under the basic plan? Drug coverage?

The risk equalization concept sounds a lot like the Medicare Advantage plans. They receive more money for sicker patients. It sounds like the US system of healthcare has many of the concepts that other countries use, but we stop short of coordinating these concepts to benefit our population.

Oh we can only dream, but I do encourage your readers to check out some HMO’s. I’ve been with one for 36 years and have never had any issues with them. Though admittedly a lot of people need some help with the cost. 🙂

It is a white ethnocentric country with very little immigration. A lot of European countries do not have much illegal immigration. It’s easy for these countries to see themselves as superior when they do not help nearly as many people as America does.
