Hear me out.. I’m going to need you to create an adults knitting and science camp so I can come learn ALL about this while knitting because I’m so fascinated!!!

I did something like this at the University of Utah for part of my masters degree 20 years ago! Gahhh I wish I could go back and see alllll the new ways isotopes are being used. Back in ~2003, one of the profs traveled to and from Africa and collected his beard trimmings every day before / during / after and was able to track his location by the isotopic composition. So fascinating.

As someone who just graduated with their bachelors in chemistry and geology . . . And also loves knitting, my worlds are colliding lol! I completely agree with what you’ve said about weed classes vs courses once you start niche-ing down. My upper level courses were simultaneously so much easier and so much harder because I was actually interested in the content and was able to apply previous knowledge, but I had to apply previous knowledge 🙃 I love seeing science education in action, awesome job :)

Yay so cool meridith. I was in a molecular anthro lab in undergrad and we did stable isotopes from like poop and bone! How are you doing sampling?
