Damon is 100% right here. Her mother left them. Anything that happened before doesn't mater because she made a choice to leave her kids with their abusive father. Even after she found out they turned she stayed where she was. That's that's the only story that matters.

Damon grieved her already that’s the point. Both of his parents failed him. He hid that fact from Stephen. The reason Stephen loves the way he does is because of Damon shielding him from all of it. The irony that his lil bro refused to face eternity without his big brother. “The Salvatore’s may fight like dogs, but in the end they would die for each other” the story that captivated the audience without question 🙌🏽

He was absolutely right, Stefan didn’t experience what Damon did, or at least not in the same way since he was younger. Damon had to protect Stefan growing up and the only thing he had was his Mom and then she left them with that monster of a father, Stefan was protected kind of at least and Damon was alone, even if Stefan was there for him, he was too young, so he couldn’t have done much
