No one did, although I carried that childlike and innocent feeling which, it seems, is meant for this world. Just imagine if we all strengthened that simple, innate goodness within us and abandoned the evil we acquire over time. Sadly, people often neglect that goodness as they grow older. I remembered the birthdays even of those I had only just met. I would congratulate them as a simple gesture of kindness, while others dismissed such things entirely and never took even a single moment to say, "Happy Birthday" to someone else. Am I sad because of that? No. Did I sometimes feel sadness? Yes. Behind all these appearances lies an illusion. Sooner or later though some may never realize it people will understand that they devoted their attention to the wrong circle of people. Those of us who chose a different path know all too well the consequences of human misunderstanding. But that is philosophy. Happiness lies in doing good, even if it means walking that path alone. For if I choose to follow them, I will become just like them, and that would be my downfall. So do not become too enchanted by people, because excessive admiration is often followed by disappointment.
