There are so many people that love the idea of “saving” every animal but they don’t think about quality of life or the pain they would be in to get there. It’s a great idea in theory to never put down an animal but it’s not going to beneficial to every animal.

I think the only thing you can do is what you are doing. sometimes people do need it broken down. because their emotions are high they aren't thinking rationally. and sometimes they need to hear " we can't save every animal, but we can make sure that every animal we can help doesn't suffer". you aren't going to be able to make everyone happy.

I love your content ! I love hearing all the stories . You sound like you were doing your best in this situation. If this was a perfect world we could save all injured animals but you were being realistic to both the shelters abilities and the conditions of the dog. I applaud the work you do !

We have the interference with an officer citation in our county too, also $500, and usually once the amount is brought up, people are very quick to get out of the way when we’re in an emergency situation. If that doesn’t work, and we will usually radio dispatch and have law enforcement meet us at the location to remove the people from the situation.

Safety is absolutely a priority. And getting everyone off of the a busy road! You did everything you could in that situation. You dont have some super powers to heal or fix every situation (or animal). But, you do have powers to help and make the best decision. And yall are already doing the preventative work with sweeps, free clinics, flyers, etc. That pedestrian was harming the animal even more.

If she actually ran a rescue/works for one, she would know that the animal’s welfare is the most important thing and that she should not let that animal suffer

it's too bad for the dog, you guys obviously have to work within the resources that you have, but in my area that dog would have been operated on pro bono at the vet for sure, but we aren't overrun like you guys are. I've never even seen a stray dog

Im EMS but was an MP in the army so my take on this and what I would do could be wrong. Personally, I'm not going to screw around on a call in the middle of the road. I'd tell her either get out of my way or you are going to get the citation. I'm not arguing it, I'm not chasing someone down to take the animal. Im going to load it and take it to be euthanized. If she wants to argue about it after thats fine.
