I was traumatized in my government class when we debated what way we thought past Supreme Court cases went. We had been studying the constitution and memorizing the amendments all semester. The debates turned into me and the constitution vs the whole rest of the class and the Bible 😩

I went to an American Highschool for 3 months as a german in the 1990s. The pledge was still mandatory. I told our teachers respectfully that I would prefer to not take part. Got called a Nazi. My answer that the pledge is actually something the Nazis would have appreciated was nit exactly well received. They had to send me to a new school in another district afterwards.

I got a call home about not standing once and my mother went off on them about how she served for the constitution and how she’s not gonna allow someone to say I or any other student shouldn’t practice their rights given to them by that constitution.
