Is because they are comparing the prices to the prices they pay for 'bakery" goods from the supermarket. The "bakery" items that have over 25 ingredients, colors, preservatives etc etc

AGREE! I calculate the cost of everything in pints. It’s a terrible budget strategy, because once I realise it’s only four or five beers, I convince myself I can absolutely afford it.
