transphobes really don’t understand just how great of an impact transitioning can have on your mental health. a little over a year ago, i couldn’t look at myself in the mirror sometimes because who i saw wasn’t me. after changing a lot, cutting my hair, gaining muscle, training my voice a bit deeper, i am more proud of who i see in the mirror than ever. keep going, and don’t listen to the transphobia.

Trans suicide rates are so high because they ARENT accepted for who they are, or because they CANT transition. And if you are visibly trans, in most spaces if you do transition you become hated and bullied so much and so hard it’s difficult not to feel those feelings. They act like the transness is the problem, when it’s their reaction to it.

Just curious, (I’m nonbinary myself pls don’t take this in a transphobic way) but wouldn’t gender dysphoria still be a mental illness in some way. Like the dysphoria can be so distressing that it can lead to suicide or harmful thoughts/behavior. I understand being trans and having gender dysphoria are two different things, but I’m having trouble seeing how gender dysphoria isn’t a mental illness. /gen

Anyway my bottom surgery is October 28th and insurance approved it yesterday! (Trans guy) I’m very very excited! It’ll be very hard to leave my job and move for it but I think I’ll be alright.

I'm trans and not having an ability TO transition (my country made hrt and surgery illegal for gender) is negatively impacting my mental health, so transitioning for a trans person is a good thing no matter how you look at it
