like the only reason I don't feed my dogs Purina anymore is because one of them is allergic and it's easier if they're in the same food 😂 I'm not trusting some random person trying to sell me their fancy food on what my dogs should eat.

My vet, albeit not a nutritionist but still knowledgeable, suggests any big brand like purina because they have rules and regulations for what they can sell. Sure there might be some batches that have recalls but at least there ARE recalls which the same cannot be said for boutique food brands

only reason why I wouldn't recommend purina is because of their bags. I've worked at Petco and would issue a lot of refunds bc people would buy bags and there would be bugs inside (only the bigger bags not small) My boss would have us clean weekly, if not daily to ensure that the shelves were clean too and some people would buy it straight out of the delivery. They need to fix their bag situation. I understand that increases cost which is probably why they haven't fixed it but it is an issue

I don’t recommend feeding Purina, not because they make bad food but because they’re owned by Nestle which has a laundry list of unethical programs and practices and I’d rather not support that with my money

Here’s the thing. I wish I had human kibble! Balanced and easy to feed. Simple. We as humans love to anthropomorphize our animals but they truly don’t care about kibble

Purina was one of the lower cost options my vet recommended. my dog is insanely picky and loves it. sure every brand is gonna have its issues with batches, recalls, etc but theres definitely worse brands

right but no one can solve the itchy skin issue. so many dogs deal with it but “nothing” works. even my vet can’t seem to give me me something that works. it’s so frustrating to watch my pet suffer.

For years I bought all kinds of food thinking I could read ingredients better than nutritionists. So anyway I feed Pro Plan to the dogs and hills to the cats now because an overwhelming amount of professionals stand behind it.

i have no veterinary background, but i do have a background in both zoology and the pet food industry, the vast majority of dog food that is AAFCO certified for your dogs life stage nutritional needs will work just fine unless they have specific allergies, intolerances, or health conditions that interfere with nutrition.
