You can choose to be team of either House for themselves, just remember that the GRRM wrote HotD from a point of a Maester...And since Citadel is known to hate House Targaryen since Aegon descended on Westeros, it is written through a certain bias in favor of Hightowers and their Targaryen side. The show is made from a more neutral perspective, how it ACTUALLY might have looked.
