Exactly this. I talked to my husband about being exhausted and asked him how long he expected me to wait around for him to get his shit together, and he said “well that’s what marriage vows are for”. I rephrased the question and asked him how long he would wait for me to get my shit together in the same situation and he said “a year”, so that’s how long I’ve given him coming up in October

I have been married for 13 years and together 21 and I think this is absolutely true. If they yelled at me, cheated on me, called me names, etc… I’d leave. And they don’t mind. I get told it’s comforting that I have strict and clear standards (that I also hold myself to).

We took out “for richer or for poorer” from the vows because I said that I’m not gonna promise to do that unless he promises to love me “for prettier or for uglier” and putting that in the vows felt weird to me so we just axed the whole section

I literally broke up with a bf of years because he kept stressing me out. I was committed but I could not imagine how we would survive when life actually got hard. Life did get harder for me but at least I didn't have a partner making it even harder for attention.
