This was the first ever movie to actually make me question who I am and where I come from. I did some digging, my grandfather like Sammie was a sharecroppers born in 1905, he fought in both world wars and had 7 children with my grandmother who I’m told I look like a lot, sadly they both passed before i was even a thought, but I really hope they can see me from beyond the veil, and are as proud of me as I am of them.
