I’m a Gen X’er as well and if they said something and we asked them to go, they would just say no. Our generation learned very quickly the word no and they meant it.

My mom and older sister had a language they called double talk and one day while trying to figure it out it just clicked in my head and I didn’t tell them for the longest time so I could hear what they were trying to keep from me. 😂

my parents spoke Pig Latin lmao. my older brother taught me Pig Latin as soon as he could so I could tell him when they were talking bad about him while he was away 😂

Just my 2 cents :
I was raised in the 60’s and 70’s and Pig Latin was what my Mom and Aunts used. It took me a whole summer after a cousin clued me in on how it worked to speak and understand it comfortably. They could speak it so fast that it was like a second language to them.
