You’re going to appreciate The Grapes of Wrath so much when you read it. Very few novels are as fundamental as it is. ❤️

Scout 🩺 :
So I just found out that Steinbeck basically collab with Tom Collins (manager for federal migrant camps) to have a researcher by name of Sanora Babb (turn over her notes) who had collected research data on families affected by the dust bowls for same organization and was also writing a book about the dust bowl families. Steinbeck utilized Babb’s notes to write his book while Babb’s book titled ‘Whose Names are Unknown” was cancelled (due to Steinbeck book) and not published until the early 2000’s. This is a sad example of a man taking a women’s work and using it for his own without consent or acknowledgment. I still love East of Eden but I was saddened to learn this about Steinbeck’s ‘Grapes of Wrath” great American novel being written at the expense of another author’s work. I think that Kristin Hannah also took a line from Sanora Babb’s book (titled above) and incorporated it into her book ‘The Four Winds’. I am sharing this because I think it’s important to give credit to whom credit may have been previously hidden or denied. Happy 4th of July everyone, stay safe. 🇺🇸 🎉🤍 keep reading. 📖
