Please don’t get him just because he’s a beautiful English Bulldog mix.. he needs someone who understands the financial and lifelong commitments that come with his care. When Geppetto came in as a stray, he was found to have severe bilateral entropion, a painful condition where both eyelids roll inward and his eyelashes constantly scrape against his eyes. The irritation has already caused significant corneal swelling, and without corrective surgery, he is at risk for chronic pain, vision loss, and permanent damage. He is also battling a chronic infection in both ears that requires ongoing treatment. He has already started medicated eye drops and ear medication, but his entropion will require surgical repair to give him lasting relief. Despite living with what is likely constant pain and impaired vision, Geppetto has remained incredibly affectionate. Staff describe him as an absolute sweetheart who wiggles right up to people looking for pets and attention. He walks slowly on leash, likely because his vision is limited, happily accepts treats, enjoys wandering around the yard, and will eventually settle into the grass while soaking up gentle affection. Geppetto deserves the chance to see the world without pain.
