It came out when I was 16.. I was 5&6 when it happened..worse of all my aunt said I shouldn’t of said anything to anyone, that I ruined the family 😞

She was attacked at a party with all of her friends by the popular guy in school she was young and not even in highschool yet when it happened she did try to call the police but she was too young to describe what happened to her I read the book she barely even understood what happened to her for that matter she I just knew it was wrong and she didn’t want to speak anymore everyone at the party heard that she was the one who called the police they thought she did it to ruin the party so they disliked her there’s no world where a girl who went through all of this would feel comfortable telling the truth about what happened that night she only got the courage to admit it when she saw her ex best friend dating her attacker and even then the best friend didn’t believe her. They only believed her when he cornered her in a room at the school to try to assault her again after getting angry about her trying to tell on him she screamed for the first time in the book and people caught him in the act

I use to really like this movie because it made me feel so seen. It's not that you don't want to speak, it's the fact that your throat burns and your body goes cold as you try to form the words before the crushing weight hits you that what you're torturing yourself to say won't matter in the end anyway, and if it does the pain only goes away for a second before it's replaced with a new one

Read the book then watched the movie in school. And I’ll just say when it got to that one part every single person, even the class clowns and guys I would assume could do such a thing were dead silent, and no one talked the rest of the class.
