I disagree most people who walk into the barbershop on the best cutter service they’ll bypass that if the cut is all good

I do agree - that it’s not about the best tools - it’s the barber behind the tools. I cut with $2,000 shears and $60 shears - if my scissor over comb skill is on point - the cut will come out seamless no matter what shears I use. I’m not saying to use bad tools… but whatever tools feel the most comfortable in your hand … regardless of price ! But a great cut trumps everything - although that camaraderie is definitely a bonus - but you can have great conversation and if the cut is bad - they are not going back for more bad cuts because of a couple good conversations .

Spot on! Cosmetologist 40 yrs. You can give an amazing hct but if they don’t like you none of that matters. If they like you it becomes more about the visit not the service.

got my barber license back 97 in Grand prairie had three shops along the way and the only thing I can say is your haircut will actually last maybe 12 hours before it starts filling in so I like giving a good haircut that will last a person a while 3 weeks maybe four and people are just charging outrageous prices for one haircut I get it kids haircuts or hard also but you can't please everybody and you always got to look out for yourself cuz you went to school for it you got to pay boost rent or you got to use it clippers there is a cost to that too

My barber teacher told me you don't have to be the best barber in the world. just treat people right and develop a good relationship with them.
