Rolled/steel cut oats: just the oat grain, prepared hot as oatmeal or cold as overnight oats. Also used to make granola. Muesli: rolled oats with nuts, seeds, and dried fruit. Alpen brand of muesli: similar to plain muesli, but with the addition of wheat flakes and possibly other grains. Cream of wheat is a finally milled version of the wheat grain, cooked as a hot cereal.

Granola is crunchier than muesli and muesli is rolled oats with fruit and nuts and both contain oats which, when made with hot milk or water becomes “oatmeal” which is a porridge, which can also be made with fruits and nuts. Oats can be soaked in yogurt or some sort of milk (dairy, almond, coconut or OAT) at which point they become overnight oats but not oatmeal. Cream of wheat is hot and gross but best savoury (butter and salt) and honestly none of it as good as GRITS! With butter, cheese and bacon! 😁

Oats are a a grain from a plant. Steel-cut oats are a way they are harvested and prepared (like “cold-pressed” juice). Overnight oats are oats that are prepared overnight. Oatmeal is when you cook oats in hot water or milk. Muesli is basically oats mixed with nuts and fruits. Granola is sweetened and baked oats, fruits, and nuts. Cream of wheat is from WHEAT… Which is a different grain from a different plant than oats.

When it’s cooked, oats is called oatmeal, but then you also have oatmeal cookies, so it is confusing. Muesli is a mix of multiple foods, oats, flakes, fruit and nuts, I think. Grits are awesome, cooked ground corn, but I prefer them with dinner, with shrimp. Try not to spiral.

Muesli is a mix of different dry raw seeds and fruits and rolled oats is a main komponent of it all, granola is like a dry roasted muesli.

I believe that granola and muesli are similar, but the oats in granola are cooked (baked or toasted) so they’re crunchy, and in muesli they aren’t (though sometimes they are lightly steamed).

In Canada 🇨🇦 we have museli, and hot oats is oatmeal, and granola is basically museli mixed with honey and baked, then broken apart once cooled and you can eat it over yogurt, or in its own. Porridge is like cream of wheat.
